Time Wizards - 1d4chan

Why Should You Play Time Wizards!?: You should not play Time Wizards!. -The original Time Wizards! rules

Time Wizards or LOS MAGOS DEL TIEMPOOOOOOOOO is a silly and chaotic rules-lite homebrew. It first surfaced on /tg/ in the writings of a tripfag named "DM Kroft." Anons laughed, said "man, that sounds like a hell of a lot of fun," and screencapped his posts. Many wanted to play the game, and it was spoken in hushed whispers that maybe Kroft would post the rules, but nothing came of it for quite some time.

The original compiled ruleset that /tg/ came up with. DM Kroft spins a tale of shenanigans and time dickery.

Shit gets done[edit]

Some odd number of months later, anons reverse-engineered some rough rules for Time Wizards from DM Kroft's descriptions, making flowcharts of gameplay. On October 14, 2013, an anon posted a proper rulebook, and the fa/tg/uys saw that it was good.

The rulebook's in 1E currently, so if you play it with your friends, post results!

A flowchart showing the convoluted flow of a MAGOS DEL TIEMPO game. The rules as reverse-engineered by fa/tg/uys, known as "Corgi Edition" for the cover. Behold its ridiculous majesty. Some examples of Change Cards. In a flowchart for some reason. Examples of phrases for use in character creation. In an Excel spreadsheet for some reason.

The Lawrence Incident[edit]

In early November, 2013, Time Wizard Lawrence storytimed his glorious experience playing Magos del Tiempo. Not once, but twice. DM Kroft himself was in the thread, and POSTED THE ORIGINAL RULES. He says they should not override or invalidate the reverse-engineered rules. In fact, there may be an effort to create a hybrid rules set... And then /tg/ delivered those rules too, with cards.

The original rules as posted by DM Kroft, known as "Hat Edition" because... well, read it. The combinaton of the 1e and Ke rules including all the cards.

Time Wizard Archibald and The Sober and Serious Edition[edit]

A group of elegan/tg/entlemen decided in September of 2015 that they wished to play a game of Time Wizards. However, the Time Master was considerably taller and longer-armed than the rest of the group, so he decided that, so as to let the poor spindly-armed Time Wizards have a chance, slapping dice would be removed in favor of dice pools based on character resources. (Naturally, some declared this heresy, but slapping dice is somewhat Khornate to begin with, so who knows for sure?) This, as expected, led to shenanigans, including dropping the Red Army in Berlin and turning a Jedi into a cardboard box.

Sober and Serious Edition is an ongoing project; in order to spare this wiki the pain of repeated uploads of revised versions, public releases will be made available on GitHub. The repository also hosts the current development versions as a .tex file, but it's highly advised to play with release candidates, as rules in development versions will change around and it's a pain to compile a file from source just to play Time Wizards!.

The initial rules of The Sober and Serious Edition.

8:42 pm E3 Nintendo's recent press conference has made me very optimistic about the companies future.  Interestingly enough they have sold over 2 billion games since the companies inception.  I also liked the fact that they are committed to getting their systems online through Wi-Fi for free; this is particularly good for me since the college I am going to next year is the second best in the nation for Wi-Fi hot spots.  Most surprisingly they revealed not only one new system but two. 10:25 pm Adventures in Odyssey Recently for my birthday (or I guess now not so recently) I recieved all of my favorite radio drama's episodes on CD. As you may have guessed from the subject the name of this radio drama is Adventures in Odyssey. The most interesting sets were rereleased tracks of the earliest episodes because each set contained a sort of behind the scenes track, where the producers and actors would talk about some of the interesting facts about the show. Not only that but they also contained a lot of previously unreleased tracks, which included two episodes from the test series called Family Portraits. One of the best things about Andventures in Odyssey is that a few of its main characters have been played by my favorite voice actor Earl Boen. He has played a lot of my favorite villians from various shows and games that I like (e.g. Megabyte from Reboot.) After I got the CDs I decided too look up what else he has done and was extremley surprised to discover that he played an important part in one of my favorite movies T2. He was the psychiatrist Dr. Peter Silberman.

8:56 pm finally I can't believe I'm finally getting around to making my first real post in like 10 months. I have thought of things I wanted to post many times but never got around to it. I will use this journal to write about interesting things that happen in my life, but I would also like to use it as a learning tool for myself. So I might write a post analyzing a book I am reading, such as The Republic or The Closing of the American Mind, or I might reiterate one of the lectures I have given, such as cosmology. Hopefully I'll have another post up later tonight.

8:48 pm might as well put this in a new post well here are two possible ways to solve the problem of not seeing the shared folder:

    1. to find the shared folder manuallya) Open "My Network Places" from the start menub) click "view workgroup computers" under network tasks on the leftc) if you don't see an icon for the family computer click up (if you do go to e)d) open all the networks listed until you see the family computer's icone) double-click the family computer icon and you should see its shared folder

    2. to have it appear automaticallya) right-click "My Computer" and open propertiesb) go to "computer name" on the tabsc) click "change" and rename your workgroup name to whatever workgroup name the family computer has or vice-versa (this will require restart)

    Hope this helps.

8:12 pm zip drive Well I was wrong Allister, apparently you can share a zip drive over a network.  It is as easy as sharing a printer or folder: Network Tell me if this helps.

9:22 am Shivel Shuceler Tell me if you have heard this one before:

There are four engineers traveling in a car; a mechanical engineer, a chemical engineer, an electrical engineer and a computer engineer. The car breaks down.

"Sounds to me as if the pistons have seized. We'll have to strip down the engine before we can get the car working again", says the mechanical engineer.

"Well", says the chemical engineer, "it sounded to me as if the fuel might be contaminated. I think we should clear out the fuel system."

"I thought it might be an grounding problem", says the electrical engineer, "or maybe a faulty plug lead."

They all turn to the computer engineer who has said nothing and say: "Well, what do you think?"

"Ummm, perhaps if we all get out of the car and get back in again?"

11:33 am its not what the party can do for your pooty its what your pooty can do for the party COMMUNISM is a conceptualized system of government in which resources and production facilities are the property of the entire society rather than individuals. In a communist society, Labor is the shared equally as well, and the benefits of labor are distributed according to need.Under such a System, All people would be equal, without class stratification.Althrough the basic idea of communism has existed since the time of Plato, modern communism is identified with the system of government described by Karl Marx and Fredrich Engels in the "Communist Manifest". They believe that capitalistic systems, in whitch the rich upper class prospered through the exploitation of the powerless lower class, were bound to destroy themselves. At this point, the poor would rebel against their former opressors and form classless society. This prophecy has never come true, and countried who have attempted to base their governments on communism has ultimately failed to achieve the utopia described by Marx and Engels

Problems:"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries." - Winston Churchill(1) DisincentificationCommunists strive for the complete equality of all incomes, and therefore, the equality of economic outcomes. However, they do not recognize a very important trade-off: as incomes approach complete equality, productivity declines. People work to make money to support themselves, not to pay taxes, as Professor Arthur Laffer has eloquently explained. He who chooses not to work suffers the consequences; He who works receives the incentives - that is, money - which he is working for. In attempts to make more money, which are perfectly consistent with human nature, people often naturally work harder and longer. Thus, productivity tends to rise as the degree of economic inequality (or, to use a more "acceptable" term, equality of opportunity) increases. This is a direct relationship. Under true communism, all incomes are completely equal. When there is nothing to achieve by working harder or longer, people become idle. People work less or not at all because the incentive of making more money no longer exists. Thus, as aforementioned, productivity will decline (unless the state is able to maintain, via coercion, the labour force to some degree). All incomes would then be equal, but this equal income would eventually fall to zero.(2) Human Rights ViolationsCommunists often argue that capitalism "kills" the poor. Statistically, though, it is communism that is the cause of the greatest massacres in the history of the world. Approximately 100,000,000 deaths worldwide can be traced to communism.Communism attempts to do the impossible: to control human individualism. Thought is free and independent and, no matter how hard anyone tries, can never be fully controlled (Orwell's Oceania notwithstanding). This inevitable, irrevocable failure has led to the disastrous massacres of communism which are often attempts to combat opinions different from those of the communist governments. Not to mention the fact that Karl Marx believed that all religion should be eradicated.(3) Inevitable FailureEvery attempt at Communism has either failed or is failing. The Soviet Union fell, as did the Eastern Bloc, as did the Berlin Wall. North Korea is starving to death, China will eventually be forced away from communism and is already showing signs of a transition to a more capitalistic system, and Cuba remains in poverty under a dictator responsible for numerous massacres and other human rights violations. In the words of Ronald Reagan, communism is indeed evil, and remains the only system which requires a wall and armed guards to hold its people in. First, it denies freedom to individuals, after which everything else follows.

Socialism/Lenninism/Trotskyism/Marxism:The social ideal of marx.i.e. "utopia"

Problems:It suffers the same economical issues as communism as well as human rights violations, but tend to be less violent. The biggest problem though is that it eventually leads to communisnm.Example: Immediatly after Lennin died Stalin had Trotsky killed."Comrades, after Kamenev's comprehensive report there is little left for me to say. I shall therefore confine myself to exposing certain legends that are being spread by Trotsky and his supporters about the October uprising, about Trotsky's role in the uprising, about the Party and the preparation for October, and so forth. I shall also touch upon Trotskyism as a peculiar ideology that is incompatible with Leninism, and upon the Party's tasks in connection with Trotsky's latest literary pronouncements." - Stalin

8:18 pm life dream ive been doing a lot of research on entering the game industry

here are a few quotes from sites that i liked:

"Being a programmer is all about getting the computer to do stuff. If you're making games, it's about making the computer do cool stuff."

"The cool part of working on games is that nothing in a game happens without a software engineer making it happen. The difficult part of working on games is that nothing in a game happens without a software engineer making it happen."

"Testers are generally mistreated entry-level or temporary employees. It sounds like a fun job - play games for money! However, you aren't necessarily playing something you like, the whole time you're playing it it's broken (which is what you're there to point out), and as soon as it's not broken you don't get to play it anymore. Add to that the fact that developers tend to take bugs personally (how dare you point out their mistakes!), and the long hours, and it ends up hard work. If you get a job in game development, please be kind to your Testers - without them, nothing would ever be worth shipping."

10:08 pm apollo recently a friend of mine has mentioned his belief that the moon landing didnt really happen

personally im very cautious about believing conspiracy type things though i always find them very interestingsuch as i half believe the kenedy and illuminati conspiracysso this was right up my ally

i decided to do some research on the subject and ive found quite a bit against the hoax believers and one good site for the hoax believers

this site seems the most informative against the hoax believers and tears apart the special my friend watched on the subject as wellBad AstronomyHere is a clip discounting one of the points made by the movie that even the hoax belivers think proves nothing and is perfectly explainable|||

Bad: When the astronauts are assembling the American flag, the flag waves. Kaysing says this must have been from an errant breeze on the set. A flag wouldn't wave in a vacuum.

Good: Of course a flag can wave in a vacuum. In the shot of the astronaut and the flag, the astronaut is rotating the pole on which the flag is mounted, trying to get it to stay up. The flag is mounted on one side on the pole, and along the top by another pole that sticks out to the side. In a vacuum or not, when you whip around the vertical pole, the flag will ``wave'', since it is attached at the top. The top will move first, then the cloth will follow along in a wave that moves down. This isn't air that is moving the flag, it's the cloth itself.

New stuff added March 1, 2001: Many HBs show a picture of an astronaut standing to one side of the flag, which still has a ripple in it (for example, see this famous image). The astronaut is not touching the flag, so how can it wave?

The answer is, it isn't waving. It looks like that because of the way the flag was deployed. The flag hangs from a horizontal rod which telescopes out from the vertical one. In Apollo 11, they couldn't get the rod to extend completely, so the flag didn't get stretched fully. It has a ripple in it, like a curtain that is not fully closed. In later flights, the astronauts didn't fully deploy it on purpose because they liked the way it looked. In other words, the flag looks like it is waving because the astronauts wanted it to look that way. Ironically, they did their job too well. It appears to have fooled a lot of people into thinking it waved.

This explanation comes from NASA's wonderful spaceflight web page. For those of you who are conspiracy minded, of course, this doesn't help because it comes from a NASA site. But it does explain why the flag looks as it does, and you will be hard pressed to find a video of the flag waving. And if it was a mistake caused by a breeze on the set where they faked this whole thing, don't you think the director would have tried for a second take? With all the money going to the hoax, they could afford the film!Note added March 28, 2001: One more thing. Several readers have pointed out that if the flag is blowing in a breeze, why don't we see dust blowing around too? Somehow, the HBs' argument gets weaker the more you think about it.

It also discusses things like the cross-hair problem and the star problems with explanations about photography which i whole heartedly agree with since ive had similar problems with exposures myself in my photography class, and is even evident to me in the images posted on the hoax believer's site:

Apollo Hoax i should point out that the clip on this site of the flag blowing in the wind does look to me like the astronaut moving the pole

This site is very good except for the fact that it doesnt completely explain the reasoning behind the mistakes such as why they would edit out the coke can but not the other "obvious" problems with parts of the videos, also it does things where it says a link below gives irrefutable proof and then the link doesnt workplease tell me if you know of a better one

    Wizard (episode)

    Season 1, episode 11

    Written & storyboarded by:

    Read transcript

"Wizard" is the eleventh episode in the first season of Adventure Time. It is the eleventh episode overall.

Finn and Jake take up wizard lessons in order to gain free magic powers, but are ultimately tricked into stopping an asteroid.

Finn and Jake are walking in a grassy plain, discussing about what a Demon heart looks and tastes like, when Reaper offers free magic powers for them. Finn hastily agrees, but Jake is a little more cautious about it, and tells him to haggle with the Reaper. Following suit, Finn does this and accepts the offer when Reaper throws in a keychain in the deal (which he never gets). The boys go through a portal to a wizard training facility. There they meet a wizard frog who directs him to Bufo. The explanation did not make any sense and Jake threatens to beat him up. The frog croaks and reveals several tadpoles inside who are all Bufo. After his demonstration of magic, he brings them inside, and reveals to them Wizard Students training. Bufo gives Finn and Jake wizard cloaks, which Finn stuffs the bottom of it into his pants after proclaiming it as being "a dress."

Bufo gives the boys their first challenge, gaining Dustomancy. It consists eating an entire broom. Jake has no problem with it, since he can grow big and eat it, while Finn takes some time. They both get a star on their wizard cloak after accomplishing it. Finn tries casting Dustomancy, but nothing came out of his hands. He accuses Bufo of tricking him, but Bufo then points out that "Dustomancy," is always in motion. He has the power to control dust motes and even interact with them. Finn and Jake get excited. Bufo then gives the two their second challenge, which is gaining Shadowcery. Bufo puts blindfolds on Finn and Jake and instructs them to grab "eyeballs" (peeled grapes, according to Jake) in a bowl. They both get another star upon succeeding. Finn then tries it out by making a horse out of his own shadow and attempts to jump on it. He goes right through it and the horse says "No touchies," and disappears. Finn gets even more excited and determines to get all the stars.

The boys go through many more levels and gain more powers until they are only missing the final star. Finn is eager to get the last star, but Jake is content without it. He implies the best spell is sleep and uses it on himself. Finn then decides to get the final star by himself. Bufo says the last power is not free and that he must do the "Pledge of Ultimate Responsibility" to get it. Finn quickly agrees, but Bufo tries to caution him that he should not take it. But Finn still wants to take the pledge. Bufo finally gives up on warning him and tells him to grasp his hand. Finn does so, then blacks out in a flash of light. When he wakes up, he realizes he is being pulled upward by ropes and realizes he has his big star. He is in place in front of an orb along with the Old Wizards. Bufo then says that Finn has to use his magic to push a meteor away from the wizard school that has been approaching it for 847 years, asking Finn to add his powers to the orb. Then he dismisses Jeremy, the oldest of the three Old Wizards, whose place Finn will take for the rest of his life before leaving. Finn then gets an idea so that the wizards will not have to be stuck like this for the rest of their lives. He jumps down from the ropes and runs outside, where Bufo is getting ready to put Jeremy in his grave. He tells Finn he is crazy, and Finn then casts the sleep spell on Bufo. Then he casts all his magic to stop the meteor. He tries to move the village out of the way of the meteor with his magic, but he cannot quite move it.

Jake falls out a window when Finn tries to move the village. Finn tries to awaken Jake for help, who deflects the spell and brings a rock alive instead. He starts to regret ever trying to do this when the Old Wizards arrive with the same spells cast. Finn is glad that they came to help, but they say they just came to get away from the meteor. They help Finn anyway and are able to move the village away from the meteor. Once the meteor hits the ground, it causes a big explosion that disintegrates the clothes off of everyone and the fur off of Jake. Bufo then says that this was his plan for all of the 847 years that the meteor was coming, to find a soul responsible enough to abandon his post and move the town out of the meteor's path, and that no one will get free wizard powers anymore. Finn then says he should still give out free wizard powers and that he should not take credit for ideas that are not his. The episode ends with Finn and Jake walking on the plains from the beginning of the episode and meeting Reaper again; this time he offers a free Demon heart.

      • One of the Student Wizards has a PHIL FACE.
      • This has been the only Adventure Time episode in which the front of a naked character is shown. A log of wood is used as a body censor in this episode.
      • At the end of the episode when the skeleton offers Finn and Jake a demon heart Jake screams, "Full circle!" This is a reference to the episode ending the same way it started with Finn and Jake wondering what a demon heart would look and taste like.
      • The exit of the magic portal that leads to the Wizard Village has many butts decorating the borders, which may be a reason for the farting sound when Finn and Jake jumps out of the portal.

      Cultural References

      • If you look closely on the title card, Jake has the word Dr. Seuss on his body.
      • The spell "Vorpal Hand," which Finn casts on himself to save the village, is a reference to the vorpal blade/sword from Lewis Carroll's poem, Jabberwocky.
      • When Bufo cries "My life is over!" near the end, his mouth position closely resembles the Just for Laughs Gags Green Monster who does the same when he cries "Mommy, it's over!"

      Episode connections

      • When Bufo is feeling ashamed of what he did, the music that plays is from "Tree Trunks."

      Production notes

      • This episode was formerly called "Finn the Wizard."
      • The logs that cover Finn and the Old Wizards near the end of the episode were originally going to be beavers, but Cartoon Network made the staff change it.

      • During the meteor crash, Bufo retains his clothes, despite everyone else's being burned off. Although he could have shielded himself with magic before the meteor crashed.

This episode was censored in some countries. See Censorship of Adventure Time for more information.
